Call for Papers:
The Mind the Gap Conference 2007 is an inaugural postgraduate workshop organized under the auspices of the School of International Relations, University of St Andrews, in cooperation with the Journal of International Political Theory and select Faculty associated with the International Political Thought postgraduate programme. The workshops will take place on Friday 19 October – Saturday 20 October, 2007.
The Mind the Gap workshop aims at addressing issues related to the intersection of Political Theory, Political Philosophy, and International Relations. It offers a rare opportunity for postgraduates from varying universities and disciplines to share experiences, concerns and research interestsall in an affordable and informal setting. What’s more, contributors will have the unique chance to confer with leading researchers invited for their keen interest in and contributions to bridging the gap between political thought and international relations.
Furthermore, the Journal of International Political Theory is sponsoring a competition for the workshops’ best paper, judged by the conference organizers and the journal editors. The winning paper will be considered for publication in a forthcoming issue of the Journal.
This workshop will be of great interest to contributors interested in this emerging field, and submissions are invited from any area and school within Political Thought and International Relations. Themes of the workshop include:

Methodological Issues in Political Thought and IR
Approaches to Violence and Peace
Republicanism and Representative Government
Matters of Inequality and Liberty
Political Theology
Agency, Order, and Justice in Political Thought and IR
Continental Thought and IR Theory

If you would like to present a paper, please send a max 500-word abstract by 27 July 2007 to pgirconf@st-andrews.ac.uk . If you would like to propose a workshop theme, please send a message to the same address, including your personal details and a brief description of the proposed theme.
The conference fee is £20 and includes coffee breaks, lunches and a conference dinner on Friday evening. Please note that the conference is self-financed and participants are responsible for seeking their own funding.
