Bilkent University: Assistant professor in IR of the middle east

The Department of International Relations at Bilkent University announces a September 2008 opening for an Assistant Professor of International Relations of the Middle East, with a particular focus on both traditional and emerging security concerns in the region.The successful candidate will be able to teach introductory courses in international politics, foreign policy analysis, and International relations theory, as well as courses in his/her area of specialization. Applicants with regional language and cultural familiarity are particularly welcome.
Bilkent University (www.bilkent.edu.tr), located on a private campus in Turkey’s capital city of Ankara, is the oldest private university in Turkey, and is an internationally recognized research institution. The medium of instruction is English. The Department of International Relations (website) is a vibrant and large department, offering a wide variety of courses. It benefits greatly from the interdisciplinary assets of its international faculty, whose backgrounds include area studies, history, and international relations. Because of the great emphasis Bilkent University places on both teaching and research excellence, the yearly teaching load is 2/2.
