We would like to put together a panel on 'Reconstructing Lebanon' at the forthcoming International Studies Association annual convention in New York (15-18 February 2009).

The panel would focus on the politics (and related subjects) of reconstruction following the 2006 'summer war' and could examine issues such as:

- lessons learned from previous reconstruction processes in Lebanon's history;
- connections between post-2006 reconstruction and Lebanon's political crisis;
- connections between post-2006 reconstruction and regional politics;
- public perceptions of the reconstruction (and/or public perceptions of the reconstruction policies and its effect on the role of state and governance);
- the impact of reconstruction on (the reconfiguration of) identities;
- issues of coordination connected with the reconstruction.

The deadline for panel submissions is 30 May 2008 so it would be good if you could send paper proposals (300 word abstract) to us by 23 May. Please feel free to forward this message to anyone who might be interested or to contact us if you have any queries.
