Thank you for agreeing to participate in this graduate
conference. The aim of the event is to bring together
senior scholars and junior researchers in the fields
of International Relations and International History.
Confirmed participants include Gustavo Corni (Trento),
Michael Cox (LSE), Sergio Fabbrini (Trento),
Christopher Hill (Cambridge), Federico Romero
(Florence), J. Mark Ruhl (Dickinson College), Antonio
Varsori (Padova).

We therefore invite you to encourage your doctoral and
post-doc students to send a proposal (300-400 words)
to present a paper at one of the following panels.

- Beyond the Nation State – Normative theory in IR;
International organizations in the postwar world;
historical and/or theoretical case studies of
international organizations;
- The European Union in World Politics — The EU as a
foreign policy actor; the history of the EU’s
engagement in international affairs; theoretical
approaches to the study of EU foreign policy.
- The Cold War and Its Meaning – The Cold War as an
interpretative category in the twentieth century;
success/failure of theoretical approaches in IR to
explain developments in the Cold War; Ideology

Deadline for proposals is 31 March 2007. They should
be sent to sara.lorenzini@lett.unitn.it

A conference committee composed of Profs Della Sala,
Gilbert and Varsori will then choose 2-3 papers for
each student panel. Paper givers will be notified by
15 April.

Papers should be approximately 15-20 minutes long and
designed to stimulate debate. Each panel will be
divided into two halves, with student presentations in
the second half. Papers are to be given in English.

We will ask all contributors to give definite titles
for their papers by 20 April and a final programme
will be circulated at the end of April.
