The successful candidate will take part in research activities within the Centre for European Studies (see www.portedeurope.org). Preference will be given to applicants whose research focuses on Europe and the World.
The person recruited will participate in the development of a research programme by carrying out and publishing work directly related to the research programme, by responding to national and/or European calls to tender for funding to finance the programme’s research activities, by participating in the academic follow-up of doctoral students working on these relevant questions, and by participating in various activities (seminars, colloquia, papers, etc.) at the Centre. The successful candidate will also be expected to make an active contribution to general and collective activities at the Centre and to contribute to cross-disciplinary themes covered within the Centre’s remit.
REQUIREMENTS
- PhD in Political Science
- Good knowledge of French and English
The PhD thesis must be completed by the deadline for applications. The thesis must have been defended by May 2007 when the selection committee meets.
The academic quality of work previously carried out by the candidate will constitute the main criteria for recruitment.
The applicant’s previous participation in collective projects, particularly international ones, and/or experience in responding to invitations to tender will be taken into account.
Knowledge of a third language and teaching experience will also be welcome.
STATUS
- Permanent contract
- Full-time position
- An evaluation of work done will be carried out at the end of 18 months on the job.
RECRUITEMENT PROCEDURE
Applications should include the following :
- A letter/personal statement detailing motivation in applying for the post,
- a curriculum vitæ,
- a copy of the thesis,
- a list of publications,
- a copy of the report on the PhD viva (thesis defense),
- a presentation of three pieces of work which the candidate esteems to be most representative of
his/her point of view. The pieces in question should also be included,
- a research project in 15 pages maximum
This is an essential element in the application file. It should present a minimum of three years work.
Deadline for applications : 15 April 2007 at 5pm (as attested by date and time on postmark). A short list will be made by the selection committee during May 2007. Selection will be made on the
basis of evaluation reports. Selected candidates will be interviewed by the committee in May 2007. The final decision will be made by the Administrateur de la Fondation, following a proposal made by the Director of the Centre for European Studies.
