Critical Security Studies and the World of Security Policy. Since its inception critical security studies has been presented as an
alternative voice to the dominant policy oriented and positivist
international relations literature...

..Whether it was presented as speaking truth to power, of showing the link between truth and power, or of
presenting an alternative vision of international and security policy,
critical security studies has been held to task for being irrelevant to the
policy debates of our age.  This panel will explore this issue in greater
detail, laying out where (if at all) it can claim to have altered macro or
micro debates, and where policy choices by NGOs and states have taken
critical voices into account.
