The marriage of Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes may have ended because of disagreements about Scientology. According to sources in the publication, Holmes, unlike Cruise, has never committed one hundred percent with Scientology and does not want her daughter to follow the same fervent path like his father.
Holmes has applied for custody of her six years in the divorce, and documents filed today in New York, especially because, according to TMZ, Holmes does not want Cruise to control her decisions in having to do with religion. The Scientology religion created by L. Ron Hubbard is a merger of principles and practices of Buddhism and Hinduism with Western knowledge and technology. The religion argues that man is an immortal and spiritual, and believes in reincarnation.
Holmes, 33, cites “irreconcilable differences” for divorce and end their marriage of five years.
“This is a personal and private matter of Katie and her family. The main concern is still Katie and her daughter,” said Holmes’s lawyer, Jonathan Wolfe.
The actor’s representative sent a statement that said his client is “deeply saddened”. “He’s focused on his three children. Please respect their privacy,” he said.
