Dress your man, and he looks good for a day; teach a man to dress himself, an he looks good for a lifetime. A few weeks ago, we posted an article about men’s fashions. That article reported on patterns, which are still very in! But for a more subtle, but still sexy look, men have options. We have another tip below, so listen up!
Employ some color! It’s springtime. Embrace it. Instead of your standard white button down, go for a saturated pastel– lavender, yellow, sky blue. These colors are eye catching, and when paired with jeans or khakis, always match! Don’t try to be too matchy-matchy; let the shirt be the focal point of the outfit. The other parts of the ensemble should be subtle. Banana Republic offers an especially comfortable, colored button down in their Soft Twill Line, costing $59.50.
An important thing to remember when choosing what shade to wear, is what it will look like against your own skin tone. A good rule of thumb is to pay attention to warm and cool tones. For men with lighter, cooler skin tones, stick to cooler colors, like blues and greens. For men with darker, richer, warmer skin tones, stick to the warm colors, like pinks, reds, and oranges. When in doubt, ask a salesperson for help.
PS, does anyone wish their closet at home looked like this one?
There is a new trend emerging for athletic apparel, and it’s snowballing. The trend isn’t gaining popularity for how cute or sexy it is– it’s actually extremely functional. What makes it better than the rest is how scientifically advanced it is.
Meet the new Kickstarter Radiate shirt. It changes colors as you exercise. It’s not like a mood ring. The color changes are based on body heat. So, if you are working a specific muscle group, the area of the shirt covering that muscle group will react to the heat created, causing it to change colors.
The creator, Kenneth Crockett, had this to say about the technology involved: “We raised the bar on [thermochromic technology] and engineered it to a precise and specific temperature range, and with that temperature range, we were able to calculate just how hard you’re exerting certain muscles.”
To demonstrate its effectiveness, Crockett donned a dull purplish/grey shirt and began exercising. After a few reps of chest presses, the shirt had turned a bright pink color. “It’s the only shirt that shows what you’re doing in real time,” Crockett said, “And as I work out harder and harder, it gets brighter and brighter.”
Sales of the shirt are skyrocketing. Within thirty hours of making it available online, Radiate Athletics met their goal of $30,000. Surprisingly, the NASA-developed technology that the shirts employ is relatively affordable; shirts start online for only $25.
Model Adriana Lima was recently spotted brazenly sporting an interesting look: she wore her designer one-piece outfit backwards:
The Brazilian bombshell stepped out Tuesday evening in an Alberta Ferretti gown. What made the look so jaw-dropping– besides her sky high legs, toned everything, and entrancing eyes, was that Lima dared to wear the one piece outfit in a way not originally intended by the designer: backwards.
However bold it was of her, it seemed to pay off, as it was well received. Although it’s hard to imagine anything worn by Lima being poorly received. She is five feet, ten inches tall with a twenty-four inch waist, after all.
She wasn’t the first to try this: Angelina Jolie also wore a Max Azria dress backwards, and her moxie was rewarded. Amanda Seyfried however was criticized for the same choice in a different dress.
Lima has built up quite the extensive portfolio, but is best known for her work as a Victoria’s Secret Angel. Notable Achievements with VS include sporting the $5 million dollar Fantasy bra, and the $2 million Fantasy Bombshell Bra, as well as opening the VS fashion show five times, the last being less than two months after giving birth.
Lima is also a devout Catholic and attends mass every Sunday. She told GQ magazine that she believes sex is intended for after marriage, and remained a virgin until her own marriage to NBA player Marko Jaric (Serbia) in 2009. Lima also does extensive charity work, building homes and buying clothing for underprivileged children, for example.
Men, listen up. Spring is around the corner and it’s time to break out the warmer-weather wardrobe. When you do, make sure you have the following items in your arsenal:
1. The distinct sport jacket:
Sports jackets are wearable in almost any situation. Dress it down with jeans, dress it up with slacks. Don’t just settle for the sport jacket though. Go with blue or brown; skip the standard black. Look for an interesting detail, such as piping.
2. The jacket that matches everything:
A light jacket that is versatile in temperature and an earth tone, such as a warm grey, tan, or khaki.
3. The slip-on Sperry:
Sperry’s aren’t out of style! The slip-on boat show radiates ideas of summer, relaxation, and carefree attitudes. Worn with or without socks, with pants or shorts, they make a great “out-the-door” shoe.
4. The soft sweater:
A well fitting sweater will accentuate broad shoulders and a strong chest. A stripe across the chest may help, if you aren’t blessed with those assets already. Also, the soft texture will encourage your lady to snuggle up close.
5. The Suit:
Double breasted or three-piece, the suit is back (and by that we mean “always”) in style. Dr. Who and Barney Stinson of How I Met Your Mother are bringing back a style that we ladies think shouldn’t have left to begin with!
Nobody could dare miss out on Angelina Jolie at the 84th Academy Awards. The actress wore a strapless black with a long slit that showed her right leg. When the actress took the stage to hand the Oscar for best adapted screenplay for the team of “The Descendants”, she quickly took the pose: left hand on hip like a diva, showing her right leg to everyone. The Oscar-winning screenwriters just have also imitated the posture of the actress when they received their awards. Admittedly, the heroine of “Tomb Raider” was standing in exactly the same way when she arrived on the red carpet. And all these has not escaped the Twitter users who have made her right leg a star in the web, creating its own account on the microblogging site. The twitter account “@AngiesRightLeg” was already taken by 15,000 subscribers the day after the ceremony. An incredible buzz which was surely unexpected by the actress.
Joan Rivers, the presenter of the show “Fashion Police”, told the website RadarOnline that all these poses were prepared. “Angelina Jolie looked like a joke. She withdrew herself from the category of superstars because you realize now that she spends hours in front of her mirror to see how it looks.” The daughter of the presenter, who is also the producer of the show, goes even further. “It has been demystified”, Melissa Joan told the U.S. site. “She demystified and that’s unfortunate because it always seemed effortless and you wondered how someone could be so glamorous.” Angelina Jolie who just released her first film as director in “In the Land of Blood and Honey”, does it absolutely nothing like the others!
“I am very happy that this period of furniture shoes, these platforms are coming to an ugly end”, said Manolo Blahnik in the documentary God Save My Shoes (2011). It’s known that the designer who is always prized for the elegance of classical models, is very elaborate in cursing any format, with details exaggerated and proposed that the concept of simply extrapolassem shoes. What many call statement shoes, Manolo prefers to ignore. However, it seems that the end of such furniture shoes is still far away. Check out some models, say, produced, which were seen on the catwalks of international fashion weeks in the summer season 2012.
