Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes have reached a divorce settlement, that includes the terms on custody of their daughter, Suri, as reported by the online edition of People magazine.
Cruise, 50, and Holmes, 33, agreed that Suri, six years of age, will live with her mother in New York and may receive several visits from her father. This was confirmed by representatives of the publication. Holmes and Suri recently moved into an apartment of three rooms in New York, where they have been seen in recent days. Cruise on the other hand is stayimg in Los Angeles with his teenage children, Connor, 17, and Bella, 19.
Cruise and Holmes were released a joint statement today calling for respect for their privacy. “We are committed to working together as parents for the welfare of our daughter, Suri. We want to keep private matters that affect our family, our respect to the commitment of each of our own beliefs, and support each other as parents,” says the note sent by the representatives of the actors, Nanci Ryder and Amanda Lundberg.
According to TMZ, the marriage may have ended because of disagreements about Scientology and the actress fears that her daughter was overturned, too, in that religion. People reported last week that Cruise was “devastated” and heart “broken” after learning that his wife had filed for divorce after five years of marriage. The actor, who at that time was filming “Oblivion” in Iceland, said that, “I had no idea what was going to happen.”
