Tom Cruise is behind a project to reinvent the history of vampire hunter, Abraham Van Helsing, which is expected to be written by Roberto Orci and his partner, Alex Kurtzman.
The film is part of an agreement signed by Orci and Kurtzman with Universal Pictures. These writers are responsible for the plots of blockbuster films such as “Transformers” and “Star Trek”. The remake of “Van Helsing”, the bitter enemy of Count Dracula in Bram Stoker’s novel, aroused the interest of Cruise, who is not only linked to the film as an actor, but as a producer .
“Alex and Roberto are extremely talented writers and producers who know the value of a great story,” said the president of Universal Pictures co-president, who noted the success of both writers to be behind several of major Hollywood films.
In addition to “Van Helsing”, Orci and Kurtzman are planning to revive the saga of “The Mummy”. Prior to that, Universal Pictures and Sony Pictures announced that the two writers wrote the sequel, “The Amazing Spider Man 2”, which will be premiering in June.
