Actress and singer Beyonce was sued by a video game company, due to a breach of an agreement that caused millions in losses and laying off 70 employees. The company, Gate Five, will require the artist $100 million of compensation.
Two years ago, both parties agreed at $20 million with the star to create a videogame based on her and lead by name, “Starpower Beyoncé.” But just three days before officially signing the contract, Beyonce backed down and left the video game company. Due to this, the firm had to lay off 70 of its employees, because they were impossible to keep due to the losses.
Legal representatives of the singer had the option to withdraw from the agreement after discovering that the video game company did not have the necessary budget to create the product that was to bear the diva’s name.
